The secrets I kept...11/13/08
Things have been going on and I haven’t even told you! Here it comes.
You may have read it in my agenda already – I’ll be doing a UK – tour! After an invite of one of my English MySpace friends to travel overseas and play in London, I decided that it was actually a really good idea. A tour came together and Saturday Nov.15th I’ll be on my way! Most of the gigs are in London, the last one takes place in Winsford (Cheshire) on December 5th. I’ll write a blog about it and post videos, so in a way I’ll be taking you with me..;-)
In case you were wondering about my next cd…There’ll be an EP preceding it. This basically means that a lot of new songs will come your way next year. The EP release will be next February on the Initials Records label. I’ll tell you more about the contents of the EP soon! Oh well, let’s just give away the title already, it’s ”The secrets we keep”. Getting curious?
Talk to you soon!
Daisy says: Bats, Songs and The Mirror Conspiracy08/28/08
Right now I'm still enjoying a great summer's night in Genolhac, a village in the mountains of South France. Everybody else here in this spooky, incredibly cool house has gone to bed, but I'm not tired. So I thought, let's write a bit about the things I've been up to lately from this front porch that's haunted by bats. You may or may not be interested..:-)
I've written a lot of songs for the past 2 years. Good songs, not so good songs (sometimes great ideas tend to turn out crappy..). The good songs (obviously not the bad) came to life on stage and developed into tunes ready to record. I've been trying to capture them with the help of great producer, Chris Grem. We've been looking for the right way to record and arrange the songs and it's coming together quite well. Expect to hear a new single pretty soon...I won't say much about it yet, but it's got the potential to make you smile and drive you crazy at the same time..;-)
Another cool thing..This summer I met a guy named Mike Bindraban who happens to be part of the band 'The Mirror Conspiracy'. He heard us play at the 'Slag bij Waterloo'-festival in June and started wondering what it would sound like if I wrote and sang some vocals to a few of their crazy cool lounge-noir tunes. I was very interested and went to their rehearsal night and met with a bunch of cute guys. It was a lot fun doing something completely different than the usual and trying to make it work. And it did work! They invited me to sing along at their gigs and for one of them we ended up rehearsing and performing with legendary (and lovely!) trumpetplayer Erik Truffaz. The Mirror Conspiracy and I will keep collaborating. Keep them in mind. You'll love them too!
Furthermore, I've decided to expand my horizon. Literally. Still sounds abstract? I'll tell you more about that soon. Let's just say I like to keep a secret or two now and then..:-) For now, I'm going inside the spooky holiday house..
Love,
